Welcome, Southern Connecticut! As we embark on a new Rotary year, I am filled with joy,  excitement, and a profound sense of gratitude. Our journey together begins now, and I invite both Rotarians and non-Rotarians to join us in igniting an irresistible fire that unites us all.

The world today is not what it was in 1905 when Rotary was founded. We face new challenges and opportunities, and it is through our collective effort that we can achieve extraordinary things. Our core values of Fellowship, Integrity, Diversity, Service, and Leadership remain steadfast, guiding us as we embrace the future and ensure Rotary remains vibrant and impactful.

This year, we will focus on the intersection of Positive Peace and the Arts through our initiative, “Opus for Peace—creating harmony, inspiring wellness, and embracing diversity through the fusion of the arts.”

The arts hold a unique and transformative power. Art transcends boundaries, languages, and cultures, allowing people to communicate and connect in ways that words alone cannot. We can express emotions, share experiences, and foster understanding among diverse groups. This fusion of creativity and expression is a potent tool for promoting peace and reconciliation.

Our “Opus for Peace” initiative aims to harness this power by creating artistic expression and collaboration opportunities within our communities. By organizing concerts, art installations, and performances, we will create platforms for voices that often go unheard, celebrating diversity and fostering inclusion. These events will elevate our public image and demonstrate Rotary’s commitment to unity and understanding. By leveraging the arts, we can connect with our communities on a deeper level, creating dialogues that heal and inspire.

But inspiration alone is not enough. We must also take decisive action through the Rotary Action Plan, which challenges us to innovate, embrace change, and adapt. Our International President, Stephanie Urchick, has inspired us to increase our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and adapt to thrive.

Our commitment to Service, our embrace of Peace through the Fusion of the Arts, and our dedication to Taking Action will create a powerful transformation. Together, we will elevate our public image and create a ripple effect of positive change. Let us hold up the mirror and reflect on our roles in this grand vision, setting a new standard for what is possible through The Magic of Rotary.
